Great! Let's dive into the basics of HTML (HyperText Markup Language). HTML is the foundation of every web page, defining its structure and content. It uses a system of elements (tags) to organize and present information on a web page. In this session, we'll cover the essential HTML elements and how to use them.
Before we start, make sure you have a text editor (such as Visual Studio Code) open and ready to write HTML code.
Basic Structure: Every HTML document follows a similar structure:
- The
<!DOCTYPE html>declaration specifies the document type and version (HTML5).- The
<html>element is the root element of the HTML document, containing all other elements.- The
<head>element holds meta-information about the document, such as the title displayed in the browser's title bar.- The
<title>element sets the title of the web page.- The
<body>element contains the visible content of the web page.Headings: HTML has six levels of headings, from
<h1>(most important) to<h6>(least important). Headings are used to define the hierarchy and structure of your content.Paragraphs and Text: To create paragraphs and text content, use the
<p>element:Lists: HTML supports ordered lists (
<ol>) and unordered lists (<ul>). Use<li>elements to define list items.Links: Create hyperlinks using the
<a>element:Images: Add images to your web page with the
<img>element:Replace "image.jpg" with the actual path to your image file, and provide a description in the
altattribute for accessibility.Formatting Text: Use tags like
<strong>,<em>,<u>, and<br>to add emphasis, underline, and line breaks to your content.That covers the basics of HTML. As you continue with the boot camp, you'll learn more HTML elements and how to combine HTML with CSS and JavaScript to create interactive and engaging web pages. Practice writing HTML code, experiment with different elements, and have fun building your first web pages!
